Live Your Life

By January 12, 2018No Comments

Many live their day-to-day lives without actually experiencing what it is like to be alive. Each task becomes a chore, and each waking day is spent pursuing tasks on a “To Do” list. This is the “live to eat and eat to live” kind of life. The work and spend cycle has made living zombies out of most of this generation. Happiness has become a rare commodity. To some it has turned into something superficial. Many TV and print commercials have used the words “fun” and “happiness” as their selling points because many people are now oblivious about what those two things truly are but search for them all of their lives.

Find the Fun:
Life is too short to be spent doing a job or a task that you hate. I’m not saying that you should drop your good-paying job and go take the high road to search for your dreams. All I am saying is that you should not take life too seriously. Every task has a fun aspect to it. You just have to find it. It’s just like the seven dwarfs who whistled while they worked or Mary Poppins who used a spoonful of sugar to help the medicine go down. Make your tasks easier by finding a way to enjoy each task. You will find your work moving on faster and lighter.

Every Day Is an Adventure:
Life becomes exciting when it is filled with adventure. You may say that you are too busy or too broke to go on an adventure. But if you look at your life from a different perspective, every day is an adventure. Nothing is ever certain. You can never tell what is going to happen and whom you are going to meet each day. If you think this way, you will wake up excited and looking forward to the possible new adventures of everyday life.

Love Your Neighbors:
As the saying goes, no man is an island. Your life becomes meaningless if you live for yourself only. Yes, you will have more money or material things if you keep things to yourself, but you will never feel complete without someone to share it with. It would be nice to have someone to eat with during lunchtime. It is also nice to have someone to call or talk to whenever something good happens to you, like a raise or promotion perhaps? Of course, it would also be nice to have a shoulder to cry on when things get tough. Share your life with others around you. Do not judge them, but instead love everyone like a brother or sister. You will be surprised just how much love will return to you if you do so.

Simple Happiness:
Happiness is not something that you can buy, nor is it something that you will find at the end of the rainbow. Happiness can be found in the simple things around you. It is in the smile from a child or the pat on the back from your boss. It is the hug from your sweetheart or you finishing your work ahead of time. It can also be from the delicious meal you just had that makes you say “Thank God!” When we become thankful for the little, good things that come our way, we gain simple happiness. And all of these little happy experiences gathered together day after day make your life more positively charged, peaceful, and happy.

Meaning and Purpose:
Life is also worth living when you begin to figure out what you are truly designed to do in this world. We are all unique, and we all have our specific tasks in society. Learn to appreciate your talents and use them well. Think of them as your special superpowers. As the quote from Spider-man goes, “With great power comes great responsibility…” Use your talents for the greater good. Use them to serve others or simply help others when the situation calls for it. Again, I am not saying you should start designing your superhero costume. All I am saying is that our talents only have meaning when they serve the right purpose.

Find Love:
Lastly, many believe that our souls are in search of their other half. There is that other person who will complete us once we are together. Do not hide from love. Go on dates. Meet people. Take risks and allow yourself to fall in love. Yes, there is a possibility of heartache, but when you find your match, that person will make your life worth living.
